TMS #592

BRRRR! It’s a cold day here in Calgary folks! I hope it is warm where you are. If you are inside and looking for some scrappy inspiration…we have a great sketch up at Tuesday Morning Sketches.

We are using Patti’s favorite this week!

I love this sketch. It is such a great one to use, especially if you want to do a lot of cards in a short amount of time…it has great simple elements that you can keep simple or go to town on!

I created another Valentine’s card. I had this gorgeous vintage piece that I knew I wanted to use and so I just built my card around that. I used some washi for the lines and some paper from American Crafts xoxo collection. A simple word sticker and some nuevo drops to finish it off.

Now, head on over to the blog to see what the rest of the DT has created for you with this great sketch to see how versatile it is! Don’t forget to play along with us!

Happy Mother’s Day

Wow! Friday already!  That means we have a new challenge for you at Brown Sugar!

Our sponsor this week is Morgan’s Artwork who will be giving the winner 3 digi images of their choice!

What is this week’s theme you ask?? Why MOTHER’S DAY!  An easy challenge and I bet many of you are already working on projects for mom!

Using an image called Cameo 8 for my card this week. (sorry I don’t have a watermarked image for you on this one!)

dav

I tried to give it a bit of a vintage feel…I used water color pencils and some water color paper for the image. I then went over the edges with some Tim Holtz Vintage photo ink .  The DP is just from my stash and I distressed it a little bit as well.  To frame the image I just used a die cut that I received in a swap and some little flowers that I have had forever in my stash.  A few little pearls around and we are done.  The sentiment with the little hearts is from Hero Arts – Celebrate Everyday set.  I hope you like it, and please stop by the blog this week and let us know what you are creating!

Love is in the Air

With Valentine’s day coming up so soon, you had to know that I would be posting another Love project.

Our challenge is up at Red Carpet Studio this week.  One of my favorite movies……LOVE ACTUALLY  is our theme!  We would like to see a project about love, something that you love, a place you love, something that you love to do, oh the love choices are endless for interpretation!

love, actually

This week we are lucky to be sponsored by Paper Nest Dolls!

The Paper Nest Dolls

I’ve got a tag for you today.  I love to play with layers and techniques so I thought this would be fun.  I got this from a make and take class I did at a scrapbook convention one year.  I just loved playing with different mediums  and making them all come together.

002

There is some stamping and inking and modge podge (oh who doesn’t love MP).  I really love that mesh overlay.  I don’t play with mesh nearly enough.  Paper images and some pearls and lace for that vintage feel.  I wanted to give it some pop of color so I added some diecut hearts from my stash.  Just a lovely vintage Parisian feel to this.

I hope you will play along with us at RCS this week for a chance to win a great prize from our sponsor!  Show us what you love!!!

Old St. Nick

Ahh another blissful Thursday!  It is snowing like mad here in Calgary.  Has been all day yesterday and again today.  I like a White Christmas as much as the next person but this is just getting ridiculous!!!  My son’s Christmas concert is today as well, so quite looking forward to that.  I hear that his class are ‘gingerbreads’ 🙂

We have another fun challenge for you at 4 Crafty Chicks this week.  I have been having such a great time with the ladies and these challenges.  Hard to believe that I only have one more after this one! 😦

Our challenge this week is distressing…adding that little bit of fun texture and dimension to your projects.  I decided to create a bit of a vintage tag for the challenge this week.

HPIM1321

This tag is actually going onto a page in my December daily.  I basically just wanted to start creating layers, so I cut the tag out of some cardstock and then used my Tim Holtz distress inks to color.  I distressed the edges and added a vintage music stamp to it.  After that, I just started creating some layers with a bunch of different embellishments I had around.  I inked up some lace, added some stickers, die cuts, tags and I had a cute little wooden star that I added some distress ink to as well as some smooch spritz.    Finally just some ribbon from my box and a button to hold it together.  I hope you like it and will come and play along with us.  The girls have created some wonderful projects for your inspiration this week.

Vintage Santa

So an Elf on a Shelf named Sam arrived at our house last night and my son is thrilled!  He thinks that Sam is so cool because he keeps moving all over the place.  I think this is just the funnest thing and can’t wait to see what kind of mischief Sam gets into as he keeps an eye on Riley for Santa.

Speaking of Santa, I have a new project for this week’s challenge at Use it Tuesday.  It’s an anything goes challenge, so lots of fun to be had…just make sure you tell us about some older stash that you used for your project.

HPIM1309

I have some pieces from my Lost and Found Christmas set from MME.  I added this old vintage image that was in my embelly box as well as a bit of twine and some sequins.  Not a heavily embellished card but I am on a clean and simple kick which of course for me is unusual!

I hope that you will join in our challenge this week.  We look forward to seeing what you create!

A Snoozy Elf and A Classy Lady

Hello everyone!  It’s Friday yet again, which means we have a new challenge at Creative Corner Challenges this week.  We are excited to be sponsored by Rick St. Dennis this week.

sponsor badge 1 (1)

Our challenge is a simple anything goes for this week and you have the chance to win 3 digis from Rick’s Store.  This week I am playing with 2 of his images, the first one is called Snoozy Elf

004

I just really thought he was so cute!  I used some DP from the 12 Days of Christmas line from MME.  I colored with my copics and I added some bling.  I thought it would be fun to give the little jingle bells some added shine so I went over them with my glossy accents!

The next image is called Waltz.  I thought she was very dainty and classy and for some reason, she inspired me to make an ATC.  I haven’t done one of these in  a very long time.  I just used a bunch of little things that were already on my desk

006

I used my TH inks for this one.  I colored her with my copics and then went over her with some modge podge.  I inked the ATC card and then went over it with my french script stamp.  I then added some ripped up paper that was sent to me in a swap.  The sentiment was one that was sent to me in a different swap.  i had that little rose in a bucket from…somewhere and then some little seed pearls.  I then went over everything with modge podge and a finally spray with some spritz for a bit of glistening shine!  I really like how she turned out.

I hope you will stop by the blog to see the other DT creations , including some from Rick’s DT who are joining us this week! There is some great mojo flowing on that page!

Happy Crafting everyone!

Generations

Good Morning everyone!  It’s been awhile since I’ve posted.  I’ve been so busy with work as well as family sickness that I’ve not had a lot of time to create and post lately.

Our new challenge is up at Use it Tuesday this week.  Our theme You Can’t Touch This, challenges you to use a beloved favorite that you’ve just not been able to break down and use yet….go ahead, it’s relatively painless 🙂

For me, I have only 3 sheets of this gorgeous Madame Boutique paper by Kaisercraft.  I also have some matching die cuts and I’ve been holding onto them for a long time.  After the initial shock of breaking into them wore off, I was glad I did use them for this layout.  The picture was on a different layout that I did, but never really liked.  I really like this one so much better.

This picture is of me as a baby with my mom, my grandma, and my great-grandma holding me.   This is one of my favorite pictures of all time, the 4 generations of women on my mother’s side.  Sadly my great-grandma passed when I was very young so I don’t have a lot of pictures of her.  All the other elements on this page are from my stash.  The paper flowers I made with some old book pages that were sent to me in a swap!  I really love how this turned out.  I hope you will stop by the blog and play with us.  There are a lot of great projects this week, AND we are having a design team call!!!  All the details are on the blog! I do hope you will apply.

Happy Thanksgiving

It’s another lovely day here in Calgary.  Hard to believe that fall is just around the corner.  It’s only a month until Thanksgiving here in Canada so I thought I would share this cute little card for you.  We are having a fins and/or feathers challenge on the Digi Haven blog this week. This challenge begins today, Friday, September 7th and ends Thursday, September 20th.  Use any Free digital image that uses “Fins” or “Feathers” or if you’re real good at finding free images, one that uses both “Fins and Feathers”. The image(s) can be a forever freebie, limited time freebie or freebie of the month as long as it’s free for the duration of this tw week challenge.  Please be sure to link back to the original artist or website on your blog.

Here’s my card using ‘feathers’.

I found this cute little vintage turkey image (which you can find here).  I have had these leaves for the longest time and usually only pull them out in the fall for autumn/halloween themed cards.  The ribbon and buttons are from my stash.  The DP is from my stash and it is from an old Hot Off The Press pack with autumn themes.  I have had it FOREVER!

Don’t forget, we are also having a DT call on the blog right now as well.  If you enjoy working with digi’s and want to be a part of a fun group, then check out the blog for details on how to apply!

Entered into the following challenges:

Fab N Funky challenges: autumn colors

Perfect Sentiments Challenge: all things great and small (animal with a sentiment)

Everybody Art Challenge: vintage

Use it Tuesday: Ribbon

Vintage Easter with Lollipop Crafts

I’m a bit late in getting this post up.  We have a new challenge at Lollipop Crafts this week…it’s any anything goes with an Easter theme. There is no sponsor this week, just a chance to be featured in the top 3.  Here are a couple of vintage Easter cards I made for this week’s challenge:

Entered Into the Following Challenges:

Crafty Sentiments: Spring (Pastel Colors)

Die Cuttin Divas: Pastels (must include a diecut)

Crafty Cardmakers: Easter

Entered into the following challenges:

The Stamping Boutique: Distress

Twisted Tuesdays: I never promised you a rose garden (flowers but no roses!)

Pretty much everything for these cards came from my stash of Easter things..so it’s really hard to pinpoint which manufacturers there were, other than the images which I just pulled off of the net.  Some were part of swaps (like the butterflies in both cards and the DP) or just stuff that I threw together because they seemed Easter/springish 🙂
