Old St. Nick

Ahh another blissful Thursday!  It is snowing like mad here in Calgary.  Has been all day yesterday and again today.  I like a White Christmas as much as the next person but this is just getting ridiculous!!!  My son’s Christmas concert is today as well, so quite looking forward to that.  I hear that his class are ‘gingerbreads’ 🙂

We have another fun challenge for you at 4 Crafty Chicks this week.  I have been having such a great time with the ladies and these challenges.  Hard to believe that I only have one more after this one! 😦

Our challenge this week is distressing…adding that little bit of fun texture and dimension to your projects.  I decided to create a bit of a vintage tag for the challenge this week.

HPIM1321

This tag is actually going onto a page in my December daily.  I basically just wanted to start creating layers, so I cut the tag out of some cardstock and then used my Tim Holtz distress inks to color.  I distressed the edges and added a vintage music stamp to it.  After that, I just started creating some layers with a bunch of different embellishments I had around.  I inked up some lace, added some stickers, die cuts, tags and I had a cute little wooden star that I added some distress ink to as well as some smooch spritz.    Finally just some ribbon from my box and a button to hold it together.  I hope you like it and will come and play along with us.  The girls have created some wonderful projects for your inspiration this week.

4 Crafty Chicks Guest Designer

I am so excited to start my month as the guest designer for 4 Crafty Chicks this week.  It is going to be such fun and I know you are going to enjoy the challenges coming up 🙂

To start off, we have a color challenge for you!  Bravo Burgundy, Always Artichoke, Early Espresso, River Rock  (burgundy, dark green, pale green, dark brown )

4 Crafty Chicks CC_2-001

At first I thought that these colors would be hard to work with but surprisingly it was pretty easy and they really go great together!

Here is the card I made.  I got my inspiration for this card from Pinterest (which I have been spending a lot of time on lately) and I used up all the stamps in my French Foliage stamp set from Stampin Up (which is also a challenge from the Stamp It Card Challenges magazine).

HPIM1314

I really liked how this turned out.  I added some distressing as well as some twine and a clip  for some dimension.   I decided I didn’t want to put a sentiment on this card because I wanted to either a) add the sentiment later for whatever I wanted to use the card for or b) just send it as a blank for anything card.   I hope you like it and please don’t forget to play along with us at 4 Crafty Chicks this week.  We would love to see what you do with these colors!

It Ain’t Easy Being Green

It challenge day at Creative Corner Challenges.  Our theme this week is Sing, Sing a Song.  We want you to create a project inspired by any song, by any artist that moves you.

For my card I was inspired by the song ‘It Ain’t Easy Being Green’ by Kermit the Frog.  I don’t know why but this song has been stuck in my head for days….

I created a really simple card for this one, using one of the images from our great sponsor this week, Scribbles Designs!

Here is my card

HPIM1300

I also created this card with Tracy’s Core’dinations Core and Stamping challenge in mind.  I used the Core’dinations Spotted  6×6 pack for this card and then did some sanding on it, to allow the white to come through.  The DP was in my paper box and I received it from a swap ages ago.  I added some ribbon and bling from my stash as well as a glittered starburst I found, just for some added texture.  The stamp sentiment is from Stampendous Friendly Messages and is one of my favorite go to stamps.

I hope you enjoy the card.  Don’t forget to stop by the blog and check out the other inspiration pieces from the DT and play along with this week’s challenge.

If you want to check out the Core’dinations online crop challenge you can find information here.

Snowflakes

And here we have another card created for the Core’dinations online crop.  The theme for Clare’s challenge was to use your core’dinations cardstock to make quick and easy Christmas Cards…believe me, you can’t get quick and easier than this.  I think the whole card took me 5 mins to create.  I used the white from the Core’dinations Stacy Julian Happy Colors (this paper pack is getting quite the workout over the last few days!).

HPIM1297

I knew I wanted to do a white on white card because I really love the look of them and what better theme than snowflakes.  I decided to brush the dust off of my Christmas embossing folders and chose this snowflake one.  I then used a sizzix snowflake die and my SU punches to set the sentiment.  I did a bit of distressing on the edges and added some pearls and bling (oh those little blings are hard to work with!) to set it off.

Make sure you stop by and play along to win some great Core’dinations packs!

Still Croppin’

Ok so have 2 more cards for the Core’dinations online crop.  These ones were a bit trickier for me because they were outside my comfort zone.

The first one is for Tami Mayberry’s CAS card challenge.  Wow! CAS, not quite an easy task for me.  I love to put layers and embellishments.  However, I managed to do it.

I used some more of  the Core’dinations  Stacy Julian Happy Colors stack for the punched border and the green one is from (I believe the Core Essentials brights pack.  I long ago took the packs apart when I filed under color so I’m pretty sure that is it).  I ran it through my cuttlebug (candy cane stripe).  The embellishments I chose were some SU twine in white as well as this brad buddy wreath from HOTP that I found in my Christmas embellishment bag.  The sentiment is from Stampin Up.  I used 2 punches, one SU and the other is I believe Marvy Uchida.

HPIM1294

For my second card, I chose Ellen’s create your own embellishment challenge.  It was a bit trickier than I thought it would be but I figured it out!   the base is from the Stacy Julian Happy colors (I try to use as much of the paper as I can 🙂 )  I sanded it down a bit before adhering.   I then took some of my scrap core-dinations pieces in green and then I punched out little circles.  I then took those circles and (tried to) create a wreath!  I just added a bit of ink on them for some dimension and then some red bling for the berries.  The sentiment is one I found in my embellishment box that was sent to me in a swap.  Then just finished it off with a bow 🙂

HPIM1296

I hope you like them, and I hope you are playing along with some of the challenges as well 🙂

Core’dinations online crop

So Core-dinations is having an online crop and I thought I’d give it a shot.  You have until November 10 to do the various challenges on their DT blogs.  If you want to play along, here is the master list http://www.coredinations.com/index.php/2013/10/31/master-challenge-list/

So for Katie’s stamped tag challenge, I made these two tags.

HPIM1293

the blue tag: I used a core’dinations core tag from their pastel pack.  I embossed it through my cuttlebug, then distressed it (with my core’dinations sanding block which came in one of my swag bags from the Great Canadian Scrapbook Carnival with Canadian Scrapbooker Magazine.  Core’dinations is always such a great sponsor).  I then inked it with my TH distress ink.  I punched out a couple of green leaves from the Tim Holtz Distress pak  (2.5×4.5 mat stack pak).   The flowers were from my stash and the sentiment is from Viva Las Vegas Stamps.

The Christmas tag I used the Core’dinations Stacy Julian Happy Colors Collection.  I used a Sizzix die then ran it through my embossing folder and added a bit of distressing.  The DP is from Echo Park and the image & sentiment were in my stamped image box from a swap ages ago.  The poinsettia is from Recollections and then I added just a bit of color with my copics and some stickles for sparkle.

I hope you like them and don’t forget to play along.  There are lots of Core’dinations packs up for grabs!

With Love

I do apologize everyone.  This post should have been up yesterday but somehow I managed to screw that up.  We have a new challenge for you at Lollipop Crafts.  Our theme is With Love…..your challenge..a love inspired project that is not a card.  It could be a 3D project like a bag or box or perhaps a tag or a frame.  We are being sponsored by Karber this week

and on Thursday, Alanna and her team will have a lot of information and new inspiration pieces for you.

My project this week is a Vintage Valentine Tag.  I don’t know what it is about these, but I just love making them.  For something totally different, instead of just the traditional pink or red, I opted for blue in there as well. The image is printed off of the internet. I cut the heart out using my Cricut and did some inking and misting for a bit of texture.  Then I just added some fun elements, vintage music sheet, there’s a doily hiding out in there , bling, flowers, some lace and distressing.  I hope you enjoy it.

Make sure you stop by the Lollipop blog to enter this week’s challenge!

A Floral Thank You with Sarah Hurley

So today’s marks my debut as part of the Sarah Hurley DT. Our theme this week is Flowers…
Without further adieu here is mine… (shout out to Lori Padberg.  It was one of her creations that inspired mine.  I loved the simple look of it)
I used some digital paper & sentiment from Sarah’s line which can be found here.

The flower is from my stash and I just inked it up a bit with some red ink.  I did some die cutting as well for the flowers and used the spellbinders to showcase the flower.  And of course some embossing using the fleur de lis embossing folder from Cuttlebug.  A really simple card but I quite like it.  Make sure you stop by the Sarah Hurley challenge blog to get your own flower entries in!  We can’t wait to see them!

Arrr Matey

So today Sarah Hurley is releasing a new set of digi stamps…and it’s all about the Pirates! These stamps are colored and plain for those that like to feel like a kid again and color your own. So the Design Team was asked to come up with some projects highlighting the new line (which by the way you can find here).  Now normally, I’m not really the type of person to create something digitally and then just print it off.  I usually like to get my hands dirty, so I thought I would blend the two.  I took some of the images and put a scene together that I would then make into an invitation.  All the images on this are found in the new collection.  I then printed it out onto some Kraft cardstock and then just proceeded to distress it…I ripped first then went over it with the distressing tool, and then I inked it with my ever loving Tim Holtz distress inks in Old Paper and Walnut Stain.  I love how it turned out!!  All the printing I did using a font on my computer.    I hope you like it too and make sure you stop by the blog and check out what the rest of the DT came up with ….fabulous!

I entered this into the following challenges:

Tiddly Inks: Kraft with me

Oh La La Creations: It’s a man thing…Okay a 6yr old is a little man;)

Paper Playtime: Anything Goes with a Digi

Stamping Vacation: Very Vintage Torn Edges ( I know it’s not a card but I thought I’d give it a shot)

Lovely Lady

Welcome to Monday! It’s challenge day at The Crazy Challenge and this week, we’re looking for all the lovely ladies out there!  I must be on a vintage kick, which for me is surprising, because I never really thought of myself as the vintage type..anyway, here is my card.

The image is downloaded from the internet (I really wish I had a stash of vintage images from a book or something). The music sheet is left over from a Tim Holtz Christmas Tag..it was printed out onto vellum and then inked and distressed to give it a vintagy feel.  The bling, pearl strand, ribbons and flowers are all from my stash.

Make sure you stop by the Crazy Challenge Blog to check out all the details on this week’s challenge.  We’re being sponsored by Hobbismo and there is a great prize to be won!

I’ve entered into the following challenges:
