UYS #485

Happy Monday everyone! Monday, is it ever really happy??? LOL

So on the Use Your Stuff blog today we have an Anything Goes challenge! Who doesn’t love that! We just want to see what you are working on this week.

For me, my BFF gave me one of those Annie’s Attic card kits (she got two in error). I hadn’t used them before so it was fun to give it a try. They give you a lot of stuff in the bag including paper, stencil, stamp, ink, some enamel dots and a bunch of die cuts and then the instructions to make 3 cards. I’m guessing that since they give you 2 sheets of the die cuts, you can make 2 of each card. This one was very red, white and blue! I decided to just make the 3 with the instructions and then use the rest of the supplies for a bunch more cards. I ended up getting a baker’s dozen out of the kit and I still have a bunch of the enamel dots and a shwack of the die cuts left. I really like the projects though! I needed to make birthday cards and since most of them were going to the USA it kinda worked out.

Here’s one from the batch!

The sentiment and the card base were mine but pretty much everything else was in the kit. I decided to use some of my clear bling rather than the red and blue enamel dots on this one. This was actually the last card that I made with just some scraps that I had left over.

If you want to see all the cards I made with it, pop on over to my instagram page: if_the _scrap_fits and you can see them all there.

I hope you will stop by the blog and see what the rest of the DT have for you.

Thanks for stopping by everyone!

White Christmas

I know, no one wants to hear about Christmas at the beginning of April.  Don’t worry I hope to have some fun spring like projects for you as the month progresses.  In the meantime, our newest challenge is up at Christmas Crafts All Year Round and our theme is all white.  It’s ok to have a smidgen of of color but try to make it as much white as possible!

Here’s my card this month.  I got this gorgeous white snowflake in a swap that I have been dying to use.  I paired it with a snowfall embossing folder and the peace die from the Stampin Up Christmas Greetings thinlits.  I actually cut out about 5 of them and glued them together to give them a bit of dimension and texture.  To finish it off, I added some Nuvo dots.  I hope you like it, and please play along with us this month, to win our great prize!

Thank you for your Service

It’s the long weekend here in Canada.  Almost my entire house is sick.  Yuk!

Our new challenge is up at Red Carpet Studio this week.

The theme is to create a Memorial Day (for our US friends) project….perhaps it is something that you do over the long weekend, like picnics & fireworks, camping…is it the theme of brotherhood and family, or do you have a special someone that serves in the armed forces.  We want to see what you create.

As well, we have a wonderful sponsor, BUGABOO STAMPS!

As a Canadian,  I am given many rights and privileges that would not be possible without those that serve in our armed forces.  For that I extend my most humblest and sincerest thanks and admiration.  Without you I could not be a free me.  For my project this week, I have chose to honor those who serve.

Now of course I did it in Red and White 😉  The image is Bugaboo’s Kidlet Army which I think is just adorable.  I used my Taylored Expressions die for the white background.  The red star behind the image is a Spellbinders.  The Stars and sentiment are from Stampin Up.  I hope you enjoy the card and please come by the blog and play along for a chance to win.

Have a wonderful long weekend everyone!

Trick or Tweet

hey there everyone! happy Friday! It’s a new challenge at the Poodles Parlour for you this week.  We are being sponsored by Karen’s Doodles! We have a fun Halloween theme for you this week, so make sure you stop by the blog to see the great DT inspiration and to play in the challenge!

Here is mine this week!

We used Karen’s image (isn’t this cute) and the DP was sent in a swap.  I did a little border punching and after I cut out the focal image with my spellbinders I popped it with some spritz smooch and pop dots! I colored with my copics, added a bit of ribbon, some spooky spiders and a few brads for just a pop of color.  I hope you like it and don’t forget to play along!

It’s a Lace thing

Good morning everyone!  It’s challenge day at Lollipop Crafts and this week it’s all about the lace!  Such a pretty dainty thing and we’d like to see what you can do with it on your projects.  It can be actual lace, lace punches, lacy borders whatever you can come up with.  All of the deets can be found on our challenge blog so please stop by and enter.  I can’t wait to see what you create and the design team as well as our two guest designers this month have created some gorgeous projects for you!

So here is my dainty little piece.

I have no idea why I decided to do a Christmas card.  I think it’s because I had that embossed piece of cardstock and really wanted to use it up.  I had seen an all white card in a magazine I picked up recently and loved the look of it so I knew I wanted to try that as well.  So this is what I came up with.  The cardstock is embossed with a cuttlebug folder.  The lace is actually cut off from a big sheet of it that I found when I was cleaning my scrap area.  I have no idea where it was from.  The sentiment is Stampin Up and the big glittered snowflake and the smaller one are from my big stash box of Christmas stuff.  I hope you like it. The ribbon is just from my stash as well.

A Floral Thank You with Sarah Hurley

So today’s marks my debut as part of the Sarah Hurley DT. Our theme this week is Flowers…
Without further adieu here is mine… (shout out to Lori Padberg.  It was one of her creations that inspired mine.  I loved the simple look of it)
I used some digital paper & sentiment from Sarah’s line which can be found here.

The flower is from my stash and I just inked it up a bit with some red ink.  I did some die cutting as well for the flowers and used the spellbinders to showcase the flower.  And of course some embossing using the fleur de lis embossing folder from Cuttlebug.  A really simple card but I quite like it.  Make sure you stop by the Sarah Hurley challenge blog to get your own flower entries in!  We can’t wait to see them!

Vintage Valentine

Hi everyone!  It’s a new Tag challenge over at Challenge Masters, and this month it’s all about the love, romance and Valentine’s Day.  I had to make some tags for the Kinderstampo Tag Swap and so I thought that I would incorporate both challenges into this…

I am really loving how these turned out.  I love the vintage look but am not the best at re-creating it.  However, once I got started, I couldn’t stop and ended up making 12 of them…here are just a couple of samples.

For these, I just cut the heart shape out using my Cricut.  I then heat embossed it with an  old french script writing background stamp that I had..after that it was glimmer mist time.  I printed off some vintage sheet music from the internet, which I then distressed and ink with Tim Holtz inks for that vintage feel.  The cliparts are from the internet as well.  Just some free site I found by googling.  The rest are just bits and bobs that I had lying around in my stash, pearls, bling,  little fabric flowers, flowers that I bought from the wedding section at Walmart and then just inked and glimmer misted to give a vintage feel to.  I really love how they turned out!  If you decide to make some, please enter my challenge at Challenge Masters so that I can see them!  Click here to sign up to the free forum…

For the Bride

Hello everyone! I hope that you’ve all had a fabulous Christmas! Mine was great, moreso because my parents were here from Kamloops to spend Christmas with the family for the first time in 15 years!  It was a whirlwind few days but we were all so happy to have them here!

Well it’s the last challenge for 2010 at AiFactory.  We’ve got a lovely digital set up for grabs this week.  It’s called Ella the flower girl and I just love it!

This week’s theme is ELEGANCE.  So however you want to interpret that into your card.  It could be an elegant wedding card, or birthday card, or thinking of you.

I did a bridal shower card myself.  With my own 5th anniversary next week, I was remembering way back when I was excited to be a new bride and celebrating my wedding.  The excitement of my bridal shower only a few weeks before and how my DH and I have celebrated every anniversary since then with a trip to Cuba! (We leave on the 15th on Jan 😉 )

I found this envelope from a B&W swap that I did on a yahoo group ages ago and so I wanted to start using it.  Thus my card is mainly black and white with just a bit of color. (forgive my thumb..the card front is cut in half so it doesn’t sit properly like a normal card)

The black paper on the inside of the card is actually floral embossed altho it’s hard to tell.  I used some stickles on her dress for some glimmer and some $$ store pearls.  The flowers came from the stash swap and I added some stickles to the brad.  I distressed the edges of the DP and added a bit of ink here and there on some edges.  I cut the image out using my Spellbinders.  I also added a border punch to imitate some lacy edging..

I hope you will join in our challenge this week.  You have until 11:59EST on Wednesday January 5 to upload your card using the link on the challenge blog!  If you are uploading from an online gallery please us AIF061 so we can find your card.  Also if you upload your card to our online community gallery, you can win a $10 GC to our store!  Speaking of our store, we have some great images that you can use for this challenge in there as well as some freebies so make sure you check it out!

I wish you all the best for 2011 and I hope you will continue to enjoy my cards and projects.

Get a move on!

It’s Thursday!  The week is moving along and so is the challenge blog over at AiFactory.  Our theme is ‘let’s get moving’.  This week we want to see some projects with movement to them! Upload your project to the challenge blog here so that we can all check out what you’ve created.  You have until Wednesday June 16th @ 10:30 pm EST to be entered to win the digital of the week which this week is some wicked clip art (which is not something that I normally use to it was fun to climb out of my usual comfort zone with this challenge) aptly called “toys forlittle boys” .  We all know how hard it is to find images for boy cards so this works out great!  You also get a spot as a guest designer for one of our challenges!  How cool is that!

You can purchase this cute clip art set at the AiFactory vault.

If you upload your pic to an online gallery please make sure that you label it as AIF#39 so that we can easily locate it.

We would love for you to use some AiFactory images on your projects ( check out our freebie section here) but it isn’t necessary.  Show us what ya got.  While you’re on the challenge blog, make sure that you check out the post about the new kit of the month club!  A chance to get some great digi images at a wicked price.  Learn more about it here or by clicking on the blinkie over on my sidebar.

Now normally, I am not a movement kinda card gal, so this was a bit out of my box for me.  I found a tutorial online for a ‘wiper card’.  I thought it looked kinda cool and gave it a shot.  It actually turned out really well.

This is the card laying flat ( I chose the firetruck image)

and then once you pull on each of the sides it looks like this, as you can see, that little piece at the top pops up and that’s where I wrote my sentiment.  I added some buttons and some ribbon on the panels and I used my diamond glaze on the wheels to give it a bit of dimension and shine like real tires.

Alright everyone! Get moving, and don’t forget to check out the other DT blogs for some more great inspiration!

I’ve entered this card into the Critter Sketch Challenge Blog this week which is to make a birthday card for a child and the CAS-tastic challenge which is buttons and at sweet stamping for their boys and their toys challenge (how appropriate is that eh?? )
