Well, anyone with kids knows that we are in the last days of summer and the kids go back to school in about 2 weeks. Maybe yours are already. My son hits grade 8 this year and he goes back on the 6th. Needless to say, he is less than thrilled.
I decided to go with a slimline for my card, just because I hadn’t done one in awhile and I thought it would be great for these little gnomes!
Surprisingly, I didn’t really have any back to school stamps or papers that I could find. However I did find this apple paper which was the back side of the paper I used for my last project. It was perfect. Then I just went online and found these little gnomes and I thought it was great that they were all holding apples too! Perfect. I printed out a sentiment and I created the holes and the border using my Studio Katia slimline die set that I have.
I’m going to give it to my son on his first day back to school. I don’t think he will appreciate it as much as I do…LOL
Stop by the blog to play along with us and to see what the rest of the DT has created…there are some amazing projects there, and we can’t wait to see what you create!
I decided to go with a different orientation for my card than the sketch! I’ve been playing with some new dies that I’ve had sitting on my desk for awhile. I believe the FRIEND is from one of my SCT samplers. The butterfly one I got recently and honestly, I thought it cut the butterflies out openly but I’m kinda glad it doesn’t. This gives you the option of leaving them closed or adjusting the wings a little bit.
The paper is just a plaid from Lawn Fawn and then the little iridescent confetti is Studio Katia. I decided to use some ribbon from my desk instead of the banner for the middle to anchor my sentiment. I’m loving this black embossed background and then these soft subtle colors.
Ok, now it’s your turn. Head over to the blog, play along with our challenge and be sure to check out the projects from the DT.
Hello All! We are enjoying some awesome sunshine here in Calgary after bits and bobs of snow scattered over the last couple of weeks so it’s hard to think about Christmas cards, but our new challenge is up at Christmas Craft Creations! Our theme is to use 2 colors…neutrals are ok, but there should be primarily 2 colors as your focus!
I didn’t want to go digging for all of my Christmas stuff for this card so I challenged myself to find some that was within arms reach of my desk and drawers. Luckily I had a bunch of Christmas product in a drawer and so I created this cute layered card.
I’m not sure where the paper is from but the sentiment is from Echo Park. I added some sequins from Studio Katia as well as some Nuevo Drops. I used a fun layer die for a bit of added interest.

Hello one and all. I’m slowly trying to get back into the groove but I will admit this Covid thing is kicking my butt.
Over on the Dragonfly Dreams blog our new challenge for the month of May is up. We are being sponsored by Fred She Said this month and our theme is Butterflies and/or Flowers.
I got to play with these awesome pre colored images and I must say, there were a lot!
I really love this card!
So I decided to go with a slimline and used my Studio Katia slimline dies for this card. I printed out an assortment of the flowers and butterflies for this card and then made a fun cluster. The HAPPY die cut is from my stash and the HELLO is from Gina K. I added a few little bling as well. You can’t tell from the photo but a few of the phtos have some Wink of Stella and I also went over a couple of them with a white gel pen to give it a little more depth.
I hope that you will play along with us and be sure to check out the amazing projects the design team has created to inspire you!
Some people may think this is daunting, but it’s actually quite easy and is really fun if you want to create a scene in your card. It gives you just a bit more space!
Now continuing on with the Frosties Stamp & Die set from Lawn Fawn, I created my slimline for you
I used my Studio Katia slimline dies to create this, and I ink blended some Lawn Fawn Sugar Plum and Peacock inks. Then I used the stars and snow stencil in the same colors. I stamped and die cut the snow flakes and added a bit of stickles to the centre. I also added some sequins in the purple & teal (I really like this color combo btw). The sentiment is from Craft Addicts Too which was just the right size for this card.

I’ve been trying to go back and work on some old classes that I purchased from @sctmagazine . This is from I believe the WCD online class from 2017 or 2018. We were creating a card using a @pagemaps sketch and a card created by Allison Okamitsu. @nicepeoplestamp .
Her example was a Christmas card but I decided to go with a birthday one using the Perfect Pairings stamp set from @stampinup along with their Gorgeous Grunge.
I used @ranger_ink distress inks in peacock feathers, twisted citron and picked raspberry for the watercolored background, as well as some @ginakdesigns black onyx ink. The stencil from Stampin Up was paired with some @heidiswapp metallic white texture paste and @studiokatia wedding bells sequins.
It’s been awhile since I did any mixed media cards and this one was super quick and easy to put together.
Your project should have at least one of those three elements! Mine has 2. 🙂
I took my inspiration from this card I saw on Pinterest:
and I put together this!
The stamp is a new one I just picked up from Studio Katia that I thought was so adorable! I stamped and colored the elves and Santa with my copics and then cut out one elf to be popped up. I cut out the Merry from the Stampin Up Christmas Thinlits about 4 times from glitter paper and layered them together. The last step was to add some Pearlized Smooch for the hats/bears and then some Nuvo drops in a white to add the snow everywhere.
I hope you like it and don’t forget to play along with us this month. Stop by the blog to see what the rest of the DT has created to inspire you!
