Bashing out some birthday cards

I needed to do a schwack of birthday cards for a group that I am in, and I knew I wanted to use these square 5×5 card bases I found at the thrift store I work at. I got 15 of them for 1.50.

I found a great sketch on the Mojo Monday website

It was pretty simple and easy to mass produce. Here’s what I came up with!

I just pulled some papers out of my scrap box and the flowers you have seen before many times. I used a sentiment from a set I bought with Craft Creations Too and then added some little crystals from Little Things from Lucy’s Cards. This collection was called Glamorous. Some of them also have some tiny Heidi Swapp flowered gems on them. I really love how these turned out.

Thanks for stopping by!

TMS #614

Hello Friends! Here we are in mid-July and I am getting ready to head to my farm for 10 days! Super excited to relax and do nothing but scrap or read! Maybe even catch up on some of my scrappy YouTube videos on my Save to Watch Later list!

Ok, on to this week’s sketch from Tuesday Morning Sketches. I really liked this one!

Now I’ve still been playing with some bits and bobs of Doodlebug Designs that I have because it just makes me feel all summery and happy!

Now I really love pairing my Doodlebug with my Lawn Fawn! I think that both companies blend so well together as you can see here! I used some Doodlebug stickers as well as some Lawn Fawn & Doodlebug papers. The enamel hearts are from my stash but I wouldn’t be surprised if they were from one of these 2 companies.

I also used a sentiment stamp that is a favorite of mine and I received in a SCT sampler. I’ve used those stamps sooo many times.

I hope you enjoyed my card and the DT has really outdone themselves this time so be sure to stop by to see what they have to show you!

This Moment

So I signed up the for Sketches for 6×6 Paper Pads by Allison Davis for Scrapbook Generation. It’s a 20 week course that helps you to use of those 6×6 Paper Pads, who, if you are like me, have tonz of! Not only in paper pad form but I also have a lot of SCT samplers which all have 6×6 papers in there!

Today is actually the beginning of week 2 and I finally got finished week 1.

I used the September 2018 SCT Sampler which highlights Field Notes by Vicki Boutin for American Crafts. It also has some Well, Hello from American Crafts.

Using a picture of my husband and I in San Francisco a couple of years ago, I really like how this turned out, and it is quite out of my usual style which I think is great! I managed to use up most of the Field Notes collection for this which was a plus!

You should check out the Scrapbook Generations blog and maybe check out one of the free sketches there for you to branch out of your own style and use up some of those 6x6s that are just not getting used fast enough! I’d love for you to leave me a link and I’ll come see what you create!

Entered into these challenges:

Dare2B Artzy: Flowers

The Crafting Challenge: Flowers and/or Butterflies

Festive Friday: Choose 3 from the list! ( I have green, die cuts and flowers)

2018 …that’s a wrap ( I think)

Ok so many of you know that I am a big fan of the Scrapbook and Cards Today Magazine SCT Samplers. Each month you get a little bit of happiness in an envelope with some of the latest and greatest from some of your favorite companies. Slowly but surely, I have been trying to work my way through. I first started in 2018 and here we are in 2021 …one each month, you can imagine how many are in my drawer!

I think I finally used up the last one from 2018! The August collection gave us treats from Pebbles -My Bright Life collection as well as Amy Tangerine’s Shine On Collection. It also had some Kelly Creates stamps, some AC rhinestones and an awesome slick writer from Scrapbook.com. As you can tell by these names, no slouches right?!

These are the cards that I created for a swap on Swap-Bot.com that I am doing and I paired it with this month’s sheetload of cards from Call Me Crafty Al. I added in some enamel dots from my stash as well a punch for some of the leafy bits.

I’ve added the links below to get this great sketch from Call me Crafty Al, as well as a link to the SCT Sampler both of which really you should look into! There is some amazing stuff in each month’s sunshine of happiness subscription and some of the very best sketches for mass producing cards to build your stash!

Thanks for stopping by!

I am doing the SCT Online Crop & Create Cardmaking event this weekend, so expect a lot of posts with some of the great projects we are doing!

TMS Andrea’s Favorite

Hey there! Thanks for stopping by!

It’s our first challenge of the new year at Tuesday Morning Sketches. For the next few weeks, each DT member will be highlighting a sketch that they particularly enjoyed over the last year.

Today we are working with Andreas!

Here’s my card!

I went with a 6×6 card for this one. The DP I think is Jillibean Soup. The flowers & leaves are Doodlebug. I added some vellum and a little birdie to go with the sentiment. I like the colors of this one. I hope you will swing by the blog and play along with us as we hit the year running!

Happy Blogversary TMS!

Hey it’s a special day!  It’s the 11th blogversary for Tuesday Morning Sketches so lots of great things going on!

Firstly, we are going back in time and using the very first sketch ever posted as our inspiration this week!

Next: PRIZES!  You need to head over to the blog to check out the great prizes that are up for grabs this week….we do have some rules though!

SIX lucky, randomly drawn winners.  The rules of this challenge:

  1. Your card must be new and the sketch must be identifiable.
  2. You can link up to 3 times.
  3. You can only participate in other 3 other challenges.
  4. Unfortunately, the prizes can only be shipped to our US friends due to high shipping costs and restrictions due to COVID-19.  I do hope our overseas friends understand and will still join in our celebration.

For any of you in Canada, if you follow my blog and play along with our sketch challenge, I will enter you into a draw to win a prize from me!  Make sure you post below in the comments that you followed and that you entered the challenge!

And lastly, a few of our amazing DT members have to step down so we wish them the best and hope to see them running around blog land…don’t forget to leave them your love!

So now that is out of the way, here’s the sketch!

and here’s my take!

I modified it a bit to work with my embossed paper.  I was working on some autumn cards for a magazine call out so I thought I would throw this one in there…The DP are from doodlebug and my stash.  The embossed paper is recollections and I believe the little stickers are from Echo Park.

Don’t forget to play along with us this week, for a chance to win those great prizes that you can find over on the blog here!

Crop Projects

Hey there…I wanted to share with you today some of the projects that I had been working on for the last week.  These were for the challenges on the Scrap Shotz Facebook page for our online crop for International Scrapbooking Day which was on the 2nd.  You can find the Scrap Shotz store here if you want to look around

The crop was Music themed, so our projects corresponded with songs!

This was a layout for the the challenge You’ve got a Friend In Me…a project about friendship.  Taken a few years ago at a bucket list concert I attended, were these pictures of my friend Amy and I at Rob Thomas (one of my very favorite singers)

FB_IMG_1588799592117

This layout was a bit of a stretch for me because it involved mixed media – not my forte.  The song was Leaving on a Jet Plane…it was the last challenge of the day and it was to use some mixed media and the sketch provided that Brande created…a really great one!  i was actually surprised at how well this turned out for me.

This one was  Eye of the Tiger….the challenge was to use a stencil!  I found this old stamp set when I was cleaning up my scrap space and the stencil is actually from Emerald Creek Crafts.

No photo description available.

Circles by Post Malone was this challenge – use circles on your project!  I broke out my Taylored Expressions die for this one, which was perfect!  I also did a bit of circle stenciling in this one.

No photo description available.

For ‘the Final Countdown” we had needed to complete an old project…I chose this layout that I had created in a Vicki Boutin class for Crop and Create probably about 3 or so years ago, I think the first one that came to Calgary,  that I hadn’t added pictures to yet.  Love this! (excuse that black line in the bottom right…it’s my headphones cord)

So that’s an idea of some of the challenges and projects that we worked on….if you get a chance to participate in an online crop, go for it…it’s great fun and it really gets the creative juices flowing….

Thanks for stopping by!

Scrappy Classes

I don’t usually make resolutions but this year, the only one I made was to actually do some of the online classes that I had purchased over the last year or so. I have 6 from Scrapbook & Cards Today Magazine!

The newest one – SCT-365 2018 is a monthly class where you can do a 2 pg layout as well as a card, designed by some of the biggest and best in the Papercrafting world!

I am so happy to be on track for this year…I’ve done both January and now February!   I’m slowly working through a bunch of photos and kits, the majority of which are from trips so you are going to see a lot of those in the upcoming months!

These classes are super easy to do – with pictures, detailed instructions, free cut files and exclusive sketches!  You can find all the details here!    Give one a try!  You won’t be disappointed and you will be pushing through layouts and cards in no time!

Preschool

Hello, hello hello! Monday already?  Challenge day at Use Your Stuff, but you knew that right?? 🙂

Back to school is in full swing now and so that is this week’s Challenge!  We want to see some of your wonderful BTS creations.

I am happy to be getting back into layouts again.  I had forgotten how much I missed doing them.  My project this week is a layout using a Sketch from Creative Scrappers.  I have one of her AWESOME sketchbooks (Volume 1)  that I got a couple of years ago and is my go to, when I need to get started.  The sketches on her site are fabulous and such a variety!

Everything is from my stash…..The DP is from October Afternoon & Fancy Pants.  I also used a bunch of bits and bobs from my stash and the wooden stars I just inked up with some ink for color.  The crayon diecut is from Simply Charmed.  The lettering is thickers.  I hope you enjoy it and play along with us at UYS this week.
