Oldie but a Goodie

I’ve been trying to go back and work on some old classes that I purchased from @sctmagazine . This is from I believe the WCD online class from 2017 or 2018. We were creating a card using a @pagemaps sketch and a card created by Allison Okamitsu. @nicepeoplestamp .

Her example was a Christmas card but I decided to go with a birthday one using the Perfect Pairings stamp set from @stampinup along with their Gorgeous Grunge.

I used @ranger_ink distress inks in peacock feathers, twisted citron and picked raspberry for the watercolored background, as well as some @ginakdesigns black onyx ink. The stencil from Stampin Up was paired with some @heidiswapp metallic white texture paste and @studiokatia wedding bells sequins.

It’s been awhile since I did any mixed media cards and this one was super quick and easy to put together.

Allison Davis 6×6 Paper Class

OK…

So I’ve done up to week 6 of Allison Davis’ 6×6 Paper Class, which for me is pretty significant. LOL Going by past experience, I’ve bought lots of classes and not even started them yet.

Here is week #4

I did this while vacationing at the farm, so I think that this is using one of my samplers. I’m not sure which one it was. I didn’t have a lot of embellishments with this one left so I like to cut out parts of the papers to use as embellies.

Week #5

This is week #5 using the O Canada collection from Photoplay Paper. Now for this one, I decided to use full sheets of paper and cut them down to the 6×6 size because I really wanted to use this paper line for these pictures. I used embellishments from the collection on this and some of my own mini alphas and thickers.

And finally sketch #6

I like this sketch and it is using the February SCT sampler from 2018 and the My Mind’s Eye Splendor Collection and probably some of the Color Fresh collection from Heidi Swapp in the same sampler.

I love these samplers, and look, you can do some great layouts with just the few pieces that you get in the sampler. I added some of my own embellishments and my own thickers, but I am a big fan of using some of the papers to cut out the images and use them as embellishments as well.

Hello

I have another fun card for you for the There’s a Stamp for That FB challenge. If you remember, our challenge for this month is challenge #23 (Frogs, Paper Piecing or Freshly Made Sketches #458–used with permission. )

I went with Paper Piecing this time, mostly because I hadn’t done it in awhile.

I had a fun Studio Calico stamp that I had never used and thought it would be really fun to stamp and cut out each house in a different paper from the Heidi Swapp Favorite Things 6×6 paper pad. I paired it with a sentiment sticker that I am pretty sure came in a previous sampler and now sits in my sentiment cup. I added a doodle frame because I thought it needed just a little something. I don’t often do CAS cards but I really love how this turned out.

Thanks for stopping by!

Brighten Your Day

Virginia Nebel demonstrated a quick and easy card using some goodies that we received from Heidi Swapp and an exclusive stamp set from Scrapbook & Cards Today Magazine.

Our paper pad is Favorite Things and it’s got some wonderful patterns and solids in it. She taught us a great little trick to add dimension to your project by using some folded layers to pop up elements.

It gives it a great 3D look. I also loved all the layers we played with for this card. Such a great way to use up papers in the 6×6 packs, of which I have many as you know! The stamp set is adorable as well! It’s full of rainbows (another project will be coming with this set down the road) and sentiments.

C4G #205 – Triangles

Hello from another wintery day in Calgary folks..yep another snowfall.  This is just nuts!

I am not ready to give up on fall yet, which is why I have an autumn-y card for you for the challenge this week at Cardz4Guyz..

It’s my challenge theme this week and it’s TRIANGLES!  Let’s get some of the three sided shapes on your projects to share!

dav

For mine, I used some old Farmhouse paper from 2012 !  I made a triangle out of it and then matted it with some brown cardstock.  I added in a layer of leaves from my stash and a hello sentiment die from SU.  I also found some little triangle enamel shapes from Heidi Swapp that went really well with the paper.

Don’t forget to play along with us this challenge, can’t wait to see what you have to show us!

PIO #147

Hey everyone! I’m happy to announce that I have been accepted to the Pile It On challenge blog and I am so excited to be a part of the team!

Pile It On

This is my first challenge with the blog and the theme is Black/Purple & Orange.  Your project would have those three colors or a combination thereof, as the primary focus.

The Challenge begins at 7AM CST (U.S.), and closes at 11:55PM CS  the Saturday before the next challenge begins, with a bonus theme on the 3rd Sunday of the month.

Our sponsor this month is Ike’s Art.  I am using an image called Frankinella for my Halloween Tag.

dav

I used a large manilla tag and added some Halloween paper from my stash.  I then added some Dusty Concord Spray Stain to some Heidi Swapp Metallic white paste and mixed it together and put it onto the tag with a crackle stencil from Tim Holtz.

My image was colored using my copics and I added a bit of Wink of Stella to her dress.  After placing it on the tag, I added a few pieces of Halloween ephemera from my stash and some enamel dots from Doodlebug.

I hope you like it and don’t forget to play along with us on the blog.  The rest of the DT has created some awesome inspiration for you.

Thanks for stopping by and happy creating!

CCAYR – Anything but a Card

First weekend of September !  Wow…fall is almost here and then ..dare I say it…winter…**sigh**

I am not looking forward to winter in Calgary (I never am), but I do love creating winter crafts!

This month’s challenge at Christmas Crafts All Year Round, is to create something other than a card.  What are you in the mood for….tag, gift bag, scrapbook page, traveller’s notebook, maybe a treat holder.

For me, it’s an ATC.  It’s been awhile since I made one so I thought it would be fun!

dav

I took some Christmas music paper and added it to the base of the ATC.  Then did a wash with some gesso and added some color with my distress crayons.  Next was a layer of Heidi Swap texture paste through my Carta Bella stencil and then when it was dry, I added a sentiment strip from my stash as well as a glitter snowflake and some enamel dots to finish it off.

I hope you like it and don’t forget to play along with us on the blog!

Have an awesome weekend!

The Music Moves Me

Hello one and all! I have a new layout for you today to go along with our new challenge up at Use Your Stuff!  This week’s theme is border punches!

I’ve not been using mine regularly so it was nice to pull them out and play a bit.

My layout today is also the March Scrapbook & Cards Today 365 2018  class.  I must say, now that I have committed to doing these classes, I have been finding my love for scrapbooking again, and it’s a nice change from doing cards all the time.

mde

For this layout I pulled out a kit that I had created several months ago for a crop and just never got around to using.  The papers are from Everyday Circus by Fancy Pants, as well as some Simple Stories and Heidi Swapp mixed in.  My border punch is EK Success (and I had to practically blow the dust off of it!.)

The embellishments stars are cut from the DP and I also used a few embellishement and die cut pieces from October Afternoon’s Saspirilla collection (I’ve been holding onto these for awhile now), and some recollections word chipboard as well as some Recollection word stickers.  The washi tape is just from my stash.

I hope you will play along with us on the blog! Can’t wait to see what you create!

Sending Many Thanks

Hello everyone!

First off I just wanted to let you know I had a really successful craft fair over the weekend.  I made about $200 for the day which surpassed last year so I am thrilled.  I am excited to see what happens at the upcoming fair and am working on a few things to add to my table.

On to this week’s challenge at Lollipop Crafts.  In honor of the US Thanksgiving taking place this month, the challenge will actually run for 3 weeks.  There is no sponsor and so it is just for fun but everyone who enters has a chance to win the top 3 blog badge! Our theme is gratitude or we give thanks.  Anything that shows gratitude in some form.

Here is my card this week.  The paper is from SEI which I have had for a couple of years now.  I created a card set for my craft fair and had some left over paper which I used for this card.  The brads and ribbon are from my stash.  I found this great chipboard resist rose which I think was from Heidi Swapp (goodness knows how long I’ve had it) and all I did was ink it to match the paper.  The stamp is from Stampin’ Up’s petite pairs set and the brads from my stash.

I hope you like it and make sure you stop by the blog and enter this month’s challenge.
