Online Card Class

So, as you know I’m a fan of card classes. I’ve taken a lot, some I’ve finished, some I’m still working on.

I recently signed up for the Spring Card Camp 2022 hosted by Kristina Werner and Jennifer McGuire as part of their Online Card Class Series. I really enjoyed this class and I learned a lot of techniques. There are a ton of classes on their website, something sure to tickle everyone’s fancy. I have a few more in mind once I get this one done and the cardstock one that I signed up for!

The class has since finished and I’m only on the third one, but that’s the great thing about it being online, one can go at their own pace as time allows.

So our first lesson was about Ink Lifting. A simple technique that has a lot of punch and one that I don’t do near enough (all of these classes really take your cards to the next level). We used stencils, heat embossing, distress inks and then some fun embellishing.

Here are the some cards I created for this class!

So for this one, I used a stencil from Vicki Boutin and some distress inks in some oranges and pinks. The butterflies and sentiment strip are from Brutus Monroe (which I got in a different online card class with SCT). I thought it would be fun to dip them in some gold embossing powder, which I’ve not done in forever!

The happy is from Stampin Up as well and I die cut it in white and then glued it to some vellum and cut it out. I added a few gold Nuevo Drops as well. I really like how this turned out.

Entered into these challenges:

Crafty Gals: Anything Goes

Through the Craft Room Door: Anything Goes

We Love to Create : Anything Goes Mixed Media

This is the other card I created with the challenge! I love the colors in this one. I used a stampin up stencil for the background. The Yippee is a die from my stash as is the sentiment strip, which was stamped, embossed and then die cut out. I punched out some leaves in some teal glitter paper to set it off and added a few pink enamel dots.

Entered into these challenges:

Crafting Happiness: Anything Goes

Everybody Art Challenge: Glitter or pearls

Love to Scrap : Anything Goes

Dream Valley: Summer Colors

Simon Says Stamp: Bright and cheerful

That’s week 1. Very fun and some great techniques that just add a lot of visual interest in my cards I think. Stay tuned for more cards as I progress through this class!

Crop & Create Delivered Online

This weekend I am doing the Scrapbook & Cards Today Magazine’s Crop & Create Delivered Card Class. It’s 3 days of classes led by some amazing talent in the industry, learning new techniques, play with new products and just having fun.

The first card we did today, is from Becky Moore using an exclusive stamp/die set from Photoplay Paper’s Say it With Stamps.

For this class we created our own stencil using the die cut as a template and then using some inks (I used Stamp Market Peachy and Mossy and Gathered Twigs distress ink). The sequins are from Neat & Tangled Festive Fall mi.

C’mon back tomorrow for a bunch more examples of our cards for this weekend!

Simon Says Stamp: STAMPTEMBER!

Well, it took some time but my wonderful stamp set from Simon Says Stamp arrived. I was graciously given a stamp set as part of their annual Stamptember event! Every day this month, they have a wonderful collaboration with a stamping company to bring you some amazing exclusive sets! There’s prizes, inspiration and shopping codes. Let’s also not forget about the golden bone…..a very special prize given to 4 lucky people who order during this event!

I was given the Raindrops 6×8 stamp set.

Alternate Image Thumb Number 1

This is a gorgeous set with lots of beautiful sentiments and a wide variety of raindrops that you can mix and match to make your own backgrounds or to add as embellishments to your projects.

I have 2 cards for you today.

For this card, I stamped three of the larger raindrops and two of the smaller ones randomly on a sheet. I then heat embossed them with white embossing powder. I went over it in a rainbow of colors of ink to simulate a rainbow. I added the sentiment and a little vellum cloud. I also added some cute little iridescent rainbow pearls that are from Studio Katia.

For my second card, I paired one of the sentiments with a Gina K die set that I have in my stash. I created the background using some distress inks & water and then smooching that onto some Brea Reese cardstock. Again I added the raindrop pearls to finish this card.

I love how these turned out and I am especially thankful to Simon Says Stamp for allowing me to play along in their event this year. Make sure you stop by their blog each day so that you don’t miss out on the amazing collaborations that they have and also check out the store and pick up your exclusive products today! Once they are gone, they are gone so don’t wait!

2 Old Bats: September

Welcome everyone to this month’s new challenge for 2 Old Bats Halloween Challenge. Can you believe we are in September already!

As always, our challenge is anything goes and each month we give you an inspiration piece to get you started.

Here’s what I created for you

I was really inspired by those skeleton heads! I was actually going to go black and white and then I decided to add a little gold in there just because. The image is from a Tim Holtz halloween collection that I have and I went over it with some distress ink. The paper is from recollections. I die cut a piece of gold foil paper and then did a bit of gold embossing for my sentiment. I really like how this turned out.

Be sure to stop by the blog and see the great creations that the rest of the DT has done and be sure to play along with us with your own Halloween inspired project!

I found a piece of this color resist paper from Stampin Up that I haven’t used in a very long time….I colored it with some Mermaid Lagoon and Twisted Citron Distress Ink and blended the colors on top of each other to get a few different shades.  I then inked and colored and fussy cut a few of the Jellyfish and a star from the Lawn Fawn So Jelly set.  I stamped the sentiment from the set onto some vellum – again something that I’ve not used in awhile and then added some enamel dots.  I thought it still needed a little something so I added a few stamped bubbles and then (even though you can’t see it) I went over the jellyfish with some Wink of Stella.

I hope you enjoy the card (which is being sent for this week’s card to my Split Coast Stamper Baker’s Dozen partner) and be sure to play along with us on the blog too!

I decided to do some non-traditional colors for this card.  I did some smooching with my Tim Holtz distress inks in picked raspberry and peacock feathers.  The stamps are from Hampton Arts.  I think he’s just adorable.

Be sure to check out the blog today to see what the rest of the Gingerbread Gals have for you!

I just had fun with this. I used some milk paint and some distress inks…a little stamping and inking. The feathers and die are from Stampin Up.  The script stamp I have had in my stash forever!. I got the little heart tag in a swap and the ribbon is from my stash.

I have another card for you! I know 2 in one day! Whew!  Tuesday Morning Sketches is another place I love to draw inspiration from and they have a great sketch for this week.

TMS #322

I am still playing with the mounds of product hanging out on my desk so I created another card using the Jovial line from Basic Grey.  I also had an old Tim Holtz stamp that I haven’t used in awhile that went well with the DP I used for this card.

I’ve got a lot of those little doilies on my desk so it was great to pull one out and it went great with this line.  I love the teal!  I used the new Mermaid Lagoon ink for the stamp as well as the Expresso.  Some little brads to finish it off.  I am happy to say as well that I finally used up the entire Jovial card kit that I had…success!!! 🙂

Please stop by Tuesday morning sketches to play along!

Another Great Canadian Scrapbook Carnival….

So this past weekend, was my yearly trek to the Great Canadian Scrapbook Carnival hosted by the lovely ladies at Canadian Scrapbooker Magazine.  This year’s theme was the 80’s and I totally got my groove on!  It was so much fun!  I am also excited to report that I will have 2 layouts published in the upcoming spring issue, so I cannot wait for you to see that!  It will be one double layout and one single!  So excited and grateful to Canadian Scrapbooker for allowing me to be a part of their amazing magazine that highlights such astounding talent from coast to coast!

While I was at Carnival, I decided to take a class.  I’m not usually one for classes, I tend to want to hoard my scrapping time.  However, I heard that Nicole Wright  (Canadian Nickle Scrap’n) was hosting a card class.  I’m sure that you have seen her around blog land/Facebook, as she does amazing work for for Simon Says Stamp, Sizzix and Ranger (her 12 Days of Tim Tags are phenomenal! ).  Anyway, she was doing a vintage card class and I really wanted to take it.  I had so much fun, getting down and dirty with my distress inks!

Which kind of fits in with this week’s challenge over at Use Your Stuff….using markers and inks!

Happy Sunday and the first day of March if you can believe it!   Wow, it feels like February flew by!    We have a new challenge at Red Carpet Studio today! Yay!

Our inspiration this week is from Public Enemies (I must admit, this is one of the few movies I’ve not seen yet…surprisingly)

So I have a fun vacation layout for you today….

20150219_121113

Anyone who knows me, knows that I hoard paper like you wouldn’t believe.  I always find it is so hard to use the cute stuff because you don’t want to cut it apart!  So I hunkered down and got too it.  I used the On the Boardwalk Collection from Graphic 45 which I thought would go great for this beach photo.  The orange dinghy I just cut out with my cricut and for some fun I added some burlap!  I distressed the edges of my pages and inked them up with my distress ink.  All the bits and bobs are just from my stash.  I hope you like it and don’t forget to stop by the blog and see the rest of the great projects we have for you, as well as to enter to win a fabulous prize for this week’s challenge.  I look forward to stopping by your blogs to check out what you create!
