iNSD with Scrapshotz Guest Designer

Hey everyone! It’s time for my challenge on the Scrapshotz Papercrafting Group on Facebook! I hope that you have been following along today with all the amazing challenges the designers have come up with for you !

My challenge is about layers.

Have some die cuts, enamel dots, embossing folders and stamps in your stash? What about wood veneers, buttons, gel pens and border punches…. any of these hanging out in your scrap space? Now is the time to pull these and any other embellishments you have out and use them to create some fun layers on your project. Don’t just put a cardstock mat behind your photo, stamp or emboss it first. Add an enamel dot or some Nuevo drops to your flower centers or scattered on your layout page. Layer some die cuts together and outline them with gel pens to make a fun cluster. Let’s not forget pop dots! Layering is a great way to add some textures and visual interest to your project and take it to the next level.

As I had mentioned, I was highlighting a previous card that I made (this one for Dragonfly Dreams)….

I really loved this card and it is one of the favorites that I’ve made. I added a lot of different layers here. Starting with my base you can see I have a die cut layer with a few details on it. I added a variety of flowers & leaves, again in layers, some of which were popped up with dots so that it adds a bit more interest. You can’t really tell but I also added an extra layer on some of these flowers with some Wink of Stella as well as some white gelly pen. I did layers for my HAPPY sentiment as well, and then some small gems.

It’s so easy to add layers to your project, with just what you have on hand. I hope that you will head on over to the FB page and play along with my challenge and some of the other ones as well. There is a ton of inspiration and of course prizes!

See you there.

CCC: Winter Blues

Hopefully you are all getting excited for Christmas. I know it isn’t like how many of us imagined it would be this year, but in my house we are thankful for many things and we are looking forward to a bit of a scaled back version this year.

I’m here with your mid-month reminder for Christmas Craft Creations Winter Blues challenge. Your project should definitely have blue as the main focal color point!

I am cleaning up some stuff on my desk and have a few bits of a Recollections Pet Christmas pack and so I created this fun little Christmas Card.

I hope you play along with us and we look forward to seeing what you create this month!

Hello!  I want to share with you a card that I created for theFestive Friday Creative Challenge!

This is what they gave us to work with and the challenge is to use any three on your project!

Here’s my card, using this month’s Sheetload of Cards from Call Me Crafty Al.  You can find the link here, to see how you too can get these really fun monthly sketches!

Here is my card!

I managed to incorporate quite a few of the suggestions in this card!  I used some pieces from my October 2018 SCT Sampler…

The DP is from Bella Blvd’s Sweet & Spooky Collection (flowers and polkadots).  The stamped image (green) and sentiment (friendship sentiment) is from Stampin Up as are the inks.  I did emboss the sentiment using some Stampendous embossing powder (embossing).  The die cut is also from Stampin up and the vellum is my last of the Doodlebug!  (I got a lot of projects out of that 12×12 sheet!).  To finish it off, just some bling from my stash (sparkle).

If you want a fun challenge the Festive Friday blog has some great ones and this one is open until the 30th.

Thanks for stopping by and happy creating!

Welcome to Tuesday!

Here we go with our latest sketch challenge on Tuesday Morning Sketches! This is a pretty one!

For fun on this one, I had my son pick out 5 cues from my challenge bucket  to use on my card.  This is a great idea if sometimes you  have trouble getting your mojo going.   I have this bucket that lists all kinds of scrappy goodies on a piece of paper, ie patterned paper, twine, ribbon, embossing, stamping, eyelets etc.   Then you pick 5 and incorporate them into your project!  So the 5 he picked for me were

twine, freebie, washi tape,  embossing (heat or dry), tiny type word stickers

So this is what turned out!

For the freebie, I used the leaf die cuts!  It turned out pretty good I think.  I had this DP in my autumn folder for awhile now and I wanted to use it.

I hope you will play along with us this week!

Crop Projects

Hey there…I wanted to share with you today some of the projects that I had been working on for the last week.  These were for the challenges on the Scrap Shotz Facebook page for our online crop for International Scrapbooking Day which was on the 2nd.  You can find the Scrap Shotz store here if you want to look around

The crop was Music themed, so our projects corresponded with songs!

This was a layout for the the challenge You’ve got a Friend In Me…a project about friendship.  Taken a few years ago at a bucket list concert I attended, were these pictures of my friend Amy and I at Rob Thomas (one of my very favorite singers)

FB_IMG_1588799592117

This layout was a bit of a stretch for me because it involved mixed media – not my forte.  The song was Leaving on a Jet Plane…it was the last challenge of the day and it was to use some mixed media and the sketch provided that Brande created…a really great one!  i was actually surprised at how well this turned out for me.

This one was  Eye of the Tiger….the challenge was to use a stencil!  I found this old stamp set when I was cleaning up my scrap space and the stencil is actually from Emerald Creek Crafts.

No photo description available.

Circles by Post Malone was this challenge – use circles on your project!  I broke out my Taylored Expressions die for this one, which was perfect!  I also did a bit of circle stenciling in this one.

No photo description available.

For ‘the Final Countdown” we had needed to complete an old project…I chose this layout that I had created in a Vicki Boutin class for Crop and Create probably about 3 or so years ago, I think the first one that came to Calgary,  that I hadn’t added pictures to yet.  Love this! (excuse that black line in the bottom right…it’s my headphones cord)

So that’s an idea of some of the challenges and projects that we worked on….if you get a chance to participate in an online crop, go for it…it’s great fun and it really gets the creative juices flowing….

Thanks for stopping by!

Bugaboo Birthday

Happy Wednesday Bloggers!  I hope you are all well.  I’ve had a sick household over this last week, which was kinda blech, as it was our long weekend and the official kickoff to camping season.

I haven’t done a lot of scrapping this weekend but I do have a cute card for you today!  It’s a new challenge week over at Penny’s and we have 2 fabulous sponsors for this week:

who is giving a luck winner 4 free images of choice

 and

who is offering a lucky winner a $12 gift certificate to their store!

Both companies have amazing digitals to use you can’t go wrong with either one!

This week I am using a digital stamp from Bugaboo!

This is a fabulous birthday cake stamp is handy to use for a quick birthday card and just some scraps from your basket.  This week I am pairing my anything goes theme at Penny’s with the Mojo Monday sketch.  Again, a really great sketch that you can use with scraps and just knock out a quick and fun card!

I just used some pieces from my scrap bucket (I even found some teal burlap in there to match my paper).  I colored the image just using my Sharpies this week and I added some stickles to every other layer, to bring in the sparkle from the chevron multi colored paper.  I also used my spellbinders to die cut.

I hope you like it and don’t forget to check out the blog for the other great projects from the DT and to play along with our anything goes challenge (it couldn’t be easier!).

Mojo Monday #460

So ya, it’s been awhile.  I’m sorry about that.  Just so much going on at home that I’ve not had much crafting time lately.  However, I’m trying to change that so I’ve been earmarking some time for myself to play in my craft area.

It’s been a long time, but I decided to play along with Mojo Monday’s sketch this week.

Here’s my take using the Pink Paislee Vintage Vogue collection. I also used a doily from my stash and just some sticker letters I picked up at the dollar store.   I finally managed to use this line up…I’ve had it for what seems like forever so I really wanted to use it up.  I will be posting some more projects that I made with it later on.

Here’s the sketch

February 6th – Eat Ice Cream for Breakfast Day

I had fun creating this one with my cricut.  I haven’t been using it much lately so it was fun to give it a try again.

Ladies Man!

Hello everyone! I am late posting this due to a very busy weekend on my part. Saturday I had a wonderful time at my crop for NSD!  It was so much fun and I managed to get a few pages done.  Then today I took my son to Heritage Park for their annual A Day out With Thomas and he had such a fun time!!!

Ok….down to work….Our new challenge is up at Red Carpet Studio.  We are basing it on the movie Something Borrowed.

something borrowed

THE CHALLENGE:  Create a project or layout using a “borrowed” sketch from our partner for this challenge “Stick It Down Challenge Blog.”

stick it down badge

So, for my challenge I used this sketch of theirs, which I really really liked.

image

Here is the layout that I created based on the sketch.  I cracked open my Dear Lizzy Neapolitan collection from American Crafts, which I won a couple of years ago.  I had forgotten how pretty this collection is and I just love how this layout turned out.  This is my little guy on his first trip to Cuba and the wonderful women that fell in love with him on the plane.

I hope you really like it and I really hope that you will play along with us this week.

One for Halloween

This was made using the Halloween card kit that I received from my partner in a swap on the Club CK forum! She sent me tonz of stuff, which is great because I don’t have that much! LOL  I decided to water color the image this time and then I added a bunch of stickles for flair~!  Everything except the chipboard hat sticker came from the kit that Christy sent me.
