Hello My Friend!

It’s a new challenge at Red Carpet Studios this week.  Our inspiration piece this week is just full of colors, ideas and such.  The Book of Life!  I haven’t seen this movie but my son has and he said it was fabulous!

In the Mexican town of San Angel, Manolo (Diego Luna), Maria (Zoë Saldana) and Joaquin (Channing Tatum) have been friends ever since childhood. Although their lives have taken different paths — Maria was sent to Europe, Joaquin joined the military, and Manolo studied to become a bullfighter — one thing remains the same: Manolo and Joaquin both want to marry Maria. Little does the trio know that battling husband-and-wife deities have made a high-stakes wager on the love triangle’s outcome.
The challenge is to use the photo above as your inspiration for your project.  Our DT has created so many fun, diverse projects for you to check out on the blog today.  We also have a wonderful sponsor!

Here is my card.  I loved the colors of this poster as well as the busy background which is what I used for my inspiration.  I hope you like it and hope you will play along with us as well.

Banner Birthday

My second week sponsoring the Creative Corner Challenge this week.  Our challenge is to use fasteners…buttons, eyelets, brads etc.

Lately I have been trying to use up my Little Sprout kit that I bought way back in 2009.  So expect to see a bunch of cards/layouts in the coming weeks using it up.  I finally got through it all. :0  This card is actually using scraps of scraps..right down to the very end. 🙂

I used a sketch from a sketch challenge at CanadianScrapSwap Chat this week.  Lots of fun banners and flags. 🙂

I used everything from my stash this week.  Buttons, bling, ribbon and paper 🙂

Wonder

Have I mentioned how much I hate doing income tax???Argh! It’s driving me crazy.

Anyway, Red Carpet Studios has a new challenge on their blog that I have been meaning to get to and so here’s a layout I created. The challenge is based on the movie The Curious Case of Benjamin Button and so the challenge is to use one or more buttons on your project.  Surprisingly, I have not seen this movie yet…should probably check it out on Netflix.

Here is a layout using my favorite subject of course.  Taken a year or so ago, just playing in the backyard, looking at everything, ever inquisitive.

I hope you like it.  Everything is from my stash.  I cannot remember the name of the DP set I used for this one.  I just remember it had the name garden in the title.  That’s how long it has been in my stash. LOL

Merry Christmas

Yay for Tuesday!  It’s our new challenge at Use It Tuesday this week.  Our theme this week is All About Christmas/Hanukkah.  Create a project using some stash items with this theme and upload it to our blog!  We would love to see what you create.

Here is my card for you.  I got the idea from a Create magazine from last year I believe.  I loved the look of it and knew I wanted to try it.

Just for You- UIT challenge #36

Hello all! We have a great and perhaps a very tough challenge for some of you this week.  I know it was really hard for me.  This week, we want you to dig into that pile of paper you have been hoarding because it’s just too pretty to cut into. USE YOUR UNCUT PAPER! You know the one, you’ve had it forever and don’t want to touch a single piece of it because once it is gone, it’s gone! What can I say except the old cliche  JUST DO IT! It’s like a band aid, rip it off quickly and be done with it.  Once you make that first cut with the trimmer you are good for the rest.

So as you know, I am a big hoarder of Basic Grey.  I love BG, I adore BG.  I have a lot of BG.  There were a lot of lines for me to choose from for this week’s challenge but I ended up using some Basic Grey Koshi line. So I not only used one, but several sheets of it!  Go big or go home right???  I have this in the 12×12 and the 6×6 so really, there’s no excuse for me not to use it, I just wanted to keep it. (I couldn’t even find anyone that still carries it to link for you, this is how long I’ve been hoarding it.  You can’t even get it anymore! )So I decided to make this cute little card holder and a set of 8 cards to sell at my craft fair this coming winter.

I also dove into a stamp set that I have had for awhile but never used and it was Lanterns by Inkadinkado.  I really liked this set but just never cracked it open.

All of the embellishments, which were mostly just ribbon and buttons came from my stash.  I didn’t want to over embellish these as I am selling them and perhaps whoever buys them wants to mail them.  I tried to keep them as flat as possible.   I used a variety of my Tim Holtz distress inks for this project and also my spellbinders to liven up the shapes of the images.  I really like how they turned out and I hope someone else does as well, enough to buy them:)

Make sure you stop by the UIT blog this week to enter our challenge and to see the rest of the really great projects the DT has for you this week.  I’m sure there were a lot of tears in craft rooms as we broke down and used up some of our favorite papers!

going dotty

Hello.  I am so late in posting this! It’s been that kind of day.

We have a new challenge on the Poodles Parlour site this week.  Our challenge is to use polka dots somewhere on your project.  This week we are being sponsored by Bugaboo Stamps!

Yay!  Please stop by the blog for all the details and to see all the great DT inspiration this week for you.

I created this fun little Easter card for you this week.

The paper was in my stash bucket so I am not entirely sure where it came from.  I embossed some cardstock using my polka dots embossing folder.  The image was colored with my Copics and then added some flowers from my many embellishments as well as some bling and just a bit of jute.  The image was cut out using one of my Spellbinders that I finally managed to crack open.  I hope you enjoy it this week.

I have entered into the following challenges:

Alphabet Challenge Blog: D is for dry embossing

Card Crafters Circle: Easter

Card Makin Mamas: Easter

Simply Create Too: Eggs and/or bunnies

Stampin for the Weekend: Anything Goes

Charizma Cards: Easter

Best Wishes: for the boys challenge at Poodles

Hi everyone.  I am late getting this post up today.  It has been busy in my house with my DH gone for the weekend, me working both jobs today and taking care of our 2yr old.  I actually spent the day in my pj’s if you can believe it!

Anyway, our challenge for you at Poodles Parlour is a fun one.  A masculine challenge for the boys being sponsored by Karen’s Doodles.

Here is mine for this week.

It is a simple card and I chose a BEST WISHES sentiment so that it could really be used for anything.  The DP was sent to me in a swap and I colored the image with my Copics, cut it out with my nestiblities and then ran some chalk over it.  Just a few buttons to add.

Please stop by the blog and enter our new challenge and to see the rest of the DT inspiration for you!

I finally broke open my Echo Park Summer days  6×6 paper pack  for this I just love the patterns and colors.  They really do scream summer! I colored the image using my copics, added some ribbon from my stash and  buttons and baker’s twine (from Whisker Graphics).  The thickers were white but I just colored them with my ink pad to fit better for the card.  I hope you like it!

ScrappyJak KOTM-July

So I have joined this new group on Facebook. It’s ScrappyJak and she has a KOTM (kit of the month) club. This is my first go round. Everyone gets the same kit and theme and then we can embellish how we choose as long as we use the pieces sent to us. Then at the end of the month, we all pop onto FB pics of our creations and then a random winner is drawn..btw…this month’s winner was ME! 🙂 I won a cute little stamp and an awesome tote..one can not have enough totes! So here are my creations this month using the 4th of July theme.

This was a fun theme for me, seeing as how I am Canadian, so I downloaded the images off the internet to use as I didn’t have any American ones.  I really like how these turned out.

I’ve entered them into the following challenges:

The Poodles Parlour: Red White and Blue

Wags N Whiskers: Buttons and Bows

Dutch Dare: Birthday (its the USA’s bday)
