Thinking of fall

Hello!

Our sponsor this week for Penny’s is Paper Creator  (the winner this week gets a £10 credit to the store)  and I just knew I wanted to use this fun image!Noah's Autumn Leaves

I don’t have a lot of fall/autumn images and Noah is just too darn cute.  I also knew that I had some fun autumn DP in my stash that I received in a swap that I really wanted to use with it! Now this image is pre-colored because we all know my coloring skills leave a lot to be desired.

The sentiment is from a bunch of new goodies I received from Vicki Boutin.  They are from her fun line with American Crafts.  I punched out some maple leaves with my punch out of some of the DP and cardstock.   I also had a little yellow leaf that I got in a swap ages ago.

I hope you like the card and be sure to stop by the blog and see what the rest of the DT has created for you.

Hi!  Welcome to my part in the UYS summer blog hop…you should have arrived from   Christine’s blog.  If you haven’t you can go back to the start of the hop on the UYS blog so you don’t forget anyone….all the links are at the bottom of this post too, just in case you get lost!

I love summer!  Here in Calgary, in my house anyway, summer means camping and a lot of time outdoors.  We have a lot of winter here in Canada..sometimes up to 8 or 9 months of it, so when that warm weather hits, you know we are outside!

Summer always makes me think of fun, bright colors. Everything seems so much more vibrant and alive!  So for my project, I wanted to share with you some embellishments that I made in a class I took at Crop & Create with Scrapbook and Cards Today Magazine.   The class was hosted by one of my crafting idols Vicki Boutin!  We were using her new line of products from American Crafts and they are just so fun…there are stickers and water color stickers, die cuts, crayons and oh so much more!  These embellishments are made with fun, vibrant uses of color.  They give you the happy feeling inside and that’s what summer is all about!  Happy happy fun fun!! 🙂

We were learning to just have fun and create layers and textures to make some knock out embellishments.  Don’t throw away those scraps…instead, grab them along with some adhesive, some pop dots and whatever little bits and bobs you might have around and create some amazing embellishments while you binge watch your favorite shows!

I hope you enjoy these and I hope you will create some of your own to use on some great layouts or cards. Now you are off to Majo’s blog  to see what great summer fun she has for you but the list is below just in case you lose your way!

UYS Challenge # 259 – Flowers

Our challenge is up at Use Your Stuff this week, a popular theme of flowers.  Good thing I’ve been working with the Moonstruck collection this week from Pink Paislee.  It has tonz of flowers!

Here is my layout for this week! This is all Pink Paislee except for the Thickers which are from American Crafts and match this collection just beautifully! I hope you enjoy it and will play along with us on the blog. We can’t wait to see what you create!

I killed a kit!

When I was at crop & create a couple of weeks ago, I got a kit when I attended Vicki Boutin’s cluster class.  It was just a small kit, made up mostly of the Moonstruck collection from Pink Paislee.  I finally put that puppy to bed.

Besides the 3 layouts ( 1 Single & 1 double from the class) I managed to get in another single layout and 4 cards.  I probably could have stretched another one or two cards as I have a few die cuts and some of the rub-ons left and one 3.5 x 5 strip of paper! LOL However, I called it a day and figured I got the just of it. 🙂

I will be sharing the projects over the next week, so here is a card that I made, which I put together for the My Favorite Things sketch challenge this week.

MFT Sketch #327 #mftstamps

I did add some extra sequins for my card just to bring in some more of that gold from the rub on at the top. The alphas came with the kit as well and they are American Crafts.

I hope you like it!

UYS Challenge #257 Spring is in the Air!

Morning all!  I am fresh-ly back from an amazing weekend spent with the uber-talented ladies of Scrapbook & Cards Today Magazine and their 2nd annual Crop & Create Calgary.  What an amazing time and the love and inspiration these ladies share with us is just incredible, not to mention their AMAZING sponsors!

Today for our Spring is in the Air Challenge on the Use Your Stuff blog I want to share a layout that I created over the weekend in Vicki Boutin’s Cluster’s, Bubbles and Layers, Oh My! Class.  In this class, Vicki walked us through some fun techniques for creating little clusters and adding dimension with layers and (your friend) foam dots!  We used an amazing kit of papers and embellishments from Pink Paislee’s Moonstruck collection.  This collection is not normally colors that I work with but after creating some amazing layouts I really do love it!

This is the single layout that we created and I thought that those beautiful fussy cut flowers are a perfect indicator of spring.  We used an awesome technique with black paint and dishsoap – blowing bubbles (so much fun!) that you can see on the white cardstock layer.

” more like a snow cone than a volcano”– Vicki Boutin

” Blossom to Awesome” – Vicki Boutin

This layout also used a bunch of rub ons from the collection (I had forgotten how much fun rub ons can be) as well as some of the ephemera pack!

I hope you like the layout, and I hope you will play along with our challenge.  Be sure to click on the link attached to Vicki’s name above so that you can check out her artist page on FB where she will be highlighting some techniques, tutorials and just fun with her new Vicki Boutin Line with American Crafts! Woohoo! We got to see and play with some of  these at C&C and they are freaking fantastic!

Thanks for stopping by!

Let’s Play BINGO

Hello all!

I am hosting this week’s challenge at Use Your Stuff and we are playing BINGO!  I’ve created a fun bingo card to use on your project (a great way to get the MOJO going as well if you are stuck!).  Here’s the card , there are lots of fun items to play with.

Here is the card I created using the horizontal line of red, die cuts/cut aparts, hearts and doily

The DP is from American Crafts XOXO collection. The doily, die cuts and white foam heart are from recollections and the glittered hearts I cut using some Recollections glitter paper and my little $$ store heart punch.  I hope you like it and hop on over to the blog to play along and to see what the rest of the DT has created for you!

Besties!

It’s a new challenge day at Red Carpet Studio and I am hosting this week~  My Challenge is based on a movie that I love

MV5BMjA5MTEzMzE4MF5BMl5BanBnXkFtZTcwMDAzMTUyMg@@._V1_SY317_CR6,0,214,317_AL_

In this 1964 beloved musical, pompous phonetics professor Henry Higgins (Rex Harrison) is so sure of his abilities that he takes it upon himself to transform a Cockney working-class girl into someone who can pass for a cultured member of high society. His subject turns out to be the lovely Eliza Doolittle (Audrey Hepburn), who agrees to speech lessons to improve her job prospects. Higgins and Eliza clash, then form an unlikely bond — one that is threatened by an aristocratic suitor (Jeremy Brett).
THE CHALLENGE: CREATE A “GIRLY” PROJECT WITH LOTS OF LAYERS.

I still have a lot of product left from the American Crafts Dear Lizzy Neapolitan set that I won a long time ago.  I thought that it would be a great set to use for this challenge.  It has all kinds of fun embellishments and paper.  I also really love the colors.  I used a sketch that I found on Pinterest.  It’s from Scrap Paper Scissors!  A great little sketch!

Make sure you stop by the blog and check out the awesome project that the rest of DT has created for you, and to enter to win a great prize from Linnie Blooms

Ladies Man!

Hello everyone! I am late posting this due to a very busy weekend on my part. Saturday I had a wonderful time at my crop for NSD!  It was so much fun and I managed to get a few pages done.  Then today I took my son to Heritage Park for their annual A Day out With Thomas and he had such a fun time!!!

Ok….down to work….Our new challenge is up at Red Carpet Studio.  We are basing it on the movie Something Borrowed.

So, for my challenge I used this sketch of theirs, which I really really liked.

Here is the layout that I created based on the sketch.  I cracked open my Dear Lizzy Neapolitan collection from American Crafts, which I won a couple of years ago.  I had forgotten how pretty this collection is and I just love how this layout turned out.  This is my little guy on his first trip to Cuba and the wonderful women that fell in love with him on the plane.

Digital Delights August Release

If you are looking for the LC blog hop please click here.

Yay!  It’s here the new August Release for Digital Delights!  It is also my first post and creation as a member of their DT so I am just really excited!  So this month Wendy has an awesome birthday collection! Oh does this have a lot of fun images….Josh, Josie and Maycee are all here for the fun.  I am only showing you what I was lucky to work with for the release but you absolutely have to stop by the blog and check out what everyone else has for you….oh there are a lot of fun projects!

So my image for you this month is Pressie Josh.  He’s so excited! He just cannot wait to open his present…and I paired it up with the new Birthday Sentiments…

In my ever ongoing quest to use up my stash, I came across a birthday kit that I had bought ages ago from Hot off The Press…it has a lot of fun papers and art to go with it.  I colored him with my copics and did a little paper piercing around the edges.  I added some doodlebug brads, american craft ribbon and basic grey bling.

I really hope that you like my first endeavor with DD and please stop by the blog and see the rest of the release which you can find in the store here…you won’t be disappointed and don’t forget to stop off at the other blogs and leave the girls some love, for many of, this marks our first time out with DD! Cardswaps Time to Shine blog hop

Hey everyone!  I’ve got a bit of a longer post for you today but well worth it!

In case you haven’t heard, there is an awesome crop going on over at Card Swaps this week. Challenges and games will be posted May 16-19, 2012 and you have until May 22, 2012 to get your projects posted to the appropriate thread. Don’t worry if you’ve not participated before, as there are many members that will be around to offer support and encouragement. Everything you need to know can be found  in the forum.  At the end of the hop,  you will be taken to the crop and we do hope you’ll join in. As you hop, collect the letter on each participants blog and unscramble them to enter into the drawing for a prize for one lucky hopper! You will be given details at the bottom of my post.

You will be unscrambling a word with a letter received at each blog you visit.. Once you collect ALL the letters, the last hostess in the blog hop will direct you to the thread in the forum where you can find all the details you need to enter the drawing. All hoppers collecting all the letters, unscrambling the word or phrase, entering the game by following the directions in the forum, and leaving feedback on EVERY blog they visit WILL be entered in to a random drawing held on May 23, 2012. ONE lucky hopper will have their name drawn and will win a prize!! So, make sure you visit every blog and find the letters. There are just so many chances to enter and win

The blog hop “theme” goes with the crop title of “Time To Shine”. We were allowed to create any project we wanted as long as it followed the criteria that it has to be able to be used for a day in which someone has their “time to shine”, such as birthdays, graduations, weddings, bridging ceremonies, communions, or whatever. Not only were we asked to create a project but we were also asked to share something about our favorite memory of a day when it was our “time to shine”.

Today I have for you this cute 50th anniversary card that I created for my in-laws anniversary.  I think 50 years together is remarkable and I can only imagine how many time to shine days they have had during those years.

Almost everything used to create this card is from my stash or a swap.  As you know I’m desperately trying to use up all the massive amount of supplies that I already have.  The DP was sent to me in a swap as was the actual image.  I wish I knew who made it because I’d love to make some more cards with it.  The image was colored using copics and then I added some stickles for my ‘shine’.  The 5 0 was cut out using my Don Juan cartridge and then I added some chunky glitter to make it stand out.  The ribbon is American Crafts (I am so into their ribbon right now!) and the pearls are just from my stash.  The sentiment is from my stash as well.

One of my favorite TIME TO SHINE days was my 30th birthday.  I was living in Red Deer away from my family and friends as I had been transferred for work.  I didn’t know anyone and I was really missing my friends.  You can’t imagine how surprised I was when a bunch of my friends came up from Calgary to visit me to help celebrate.  They spent the whole day with me and that evening they planned a surprise birthday party for me at a favorite club that I went to.  For that whole day I was a queen.  Everyone paid attention to me and my friends made it the best birthday party ever!  I have never had another birthday like it, and honestly, I doubt that I ever will again. Although it was my day to shine, I think my friends shared in the spotlight.

Now, you should have arrived here from Laura’s blog.  If not, go back and check out her blog and collect your letter. Then collect my letter and hop on.  I’ve posted the blog hop list at the bottom of this post, just in case you get lost!

NOW THE LETTER YOU HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR FROM ME IS “L”

thanks for stopping by and HAVE FUN ON THE REST OF THE HOP!  You are heading over to Carolyn’s blog next.
