Paper Hugs

Hey there. I have a cute card for you today that I am sending across to Italy to bring a smile to someone’s face.

Using some Jillibean Soup Garden Harvest paper and a small piece from my scraps, I created this one using the Sketch Saturday sketch. I used a Paper Hugs sentiment from Crafty Addicts which I love. I also did some fussy cutting of the flowers in one of the papers. This is a great trick if you don’t have a lot of matching embellishments.

Thanks for stopping by.

So I signed up the for Sketches for 6×6 Paper Pads by Allison Davis for Scrapbook Generation. It’s a 20 week course that helps you to use of those 6×6 Paper Pads, who, if you are like me, have tonz of! Not only in paper pad form but I also have a lot of SCT samplers which all have 6×6 papers in there!

Today is actually the beginning of week 2 and I finally got finished week 1.

I used the September 2018 SCT Sampler which highlights Field Notes by Vicki Boutin for American Crafts. It also has some Well, Hello from American Crafts.

Using a picture of my husband and I in San Francisco a couple of years ago, I really like how this turned out, and it is quite out of my usual style which I think is great! I managed to use up most of the Field Notes collection for this which was a plus!

You should check out the Scrapbook Generations blog and maybe check out one of the free sketches there for you to branch out of your own style and use up some of those 6x6s that are just not getting used fast enough! I’d love for you to leave me a link and I’ll come see what you create!

Stamping with CTMH

Today’s second class was with Jill Broadbent of Close To My Heart and we learned some fun new stamping techniques. This is a really pretty stamp and die set that we were gifted with! It’s very spring like isn’t it!

These cards were super easy to make but with the extra time spent in the stamping, it really sets them off!

Fun with Gina K

Today’s Crop & Create Cards started off with a really fun class with Gina K of Gina K Designs. We learned some really great layered stenciling, which is not something that I do very much of, but definitely want to in the future.

I also really like the HELLO die cut that we received with our kit as well. I think that Gina said that this stamp set will be released a bit later on, so be sure to watch for it in her store!

Love me

I don’t normally make Valentine’s Day cards…..it’s more of a Hallmark holiday to me than anything else, but I had these few things on my desk that have been sitting there forever and I was resolved to use them….one was this dotted paper from Stampin Up that I’ve had for years, and the other was the brick wall die cut that was given to me in a swap and lastly was this quote from my favorite musical. I wondered how I could bring the three of them together. I love a good scrapping challenge!

I took the dotted paper and inked it with some distress oxide inks in Spun Sugar, Abandoned Coral and Aged Mahogany. I added some water sprinkles, just for an extra layer of interest. I then put the brick wall die cut over top of that. Then it was just a matter of adding a couple different hearts from my stash (I love that foil one) and some enamel dots. The sentiment is from the Ink Road’s Subway Art Lover’s Movie Quotes. I love this stamp set! I am a big movie buff and it has some of my favorite lines and I really enjoy trying to fit them into different card styles! As I said, this particular quote is from my all time favorite musical The Phantom of the Opera!!!

I really like how this turned out.

January Sheetload of Cards by Call Me Crafty Al

Hey everyone! Today I am sharing with you a couple of my January Sheetload of Cards that I made using the Call me Crafty Al sketch and printables.

Crafty Al makes these free to everyone who subscribes and they are so awesome if you are the type of person that likes to mass produce a bunch of cards at a time or even work on one. She tells you how to do both!

You need to head to this link and find out how you can get in on all the fun for this month, which also includes some great printable sentiments. You can check out a wide assortment of her fun videos on her YouTube channel as well.

I kept pretty much to the sketch for mine but there are so many ways that you can alter it to fit your style….instead of the banner, you could use just a border punch, you could add small embellishments, use a picture instead of the sentiment and add the sentiment elsewhere….it’s yours to play with.

For the first card, I made the batch of 9 that the instructions give you and kept it pretty plain as I was mailing these out as part of a swap for Splitcoaststampers. I used some of the Simple Stories Autumn Splendor line and then just some cardstock from my stash. These printables are fabulous and they are free from Crafty Al as part of the January Sheetload. You get a lot!

I don’t remember the paper for the second one, but it was in my box and I decided to use the single card instructions as I was using 6×6 paper. I also added just a few of the little enamel hearts that I had sitting on my desk

Either way, the instructions are easy to follow and she tells you all the measurements and pretty much everything you need to know…it’s cardmaking at its easiest!

I hope you will stop by her YouTube channel, subscribe and get lost in all the great videos she has…there are so many sheetloads to choose from and it’s a great way to start off your cardmaking for 2021!

Grateful

Happy Thanksgiving to my Canadian Friends! It’s our Thanskgiving today and so I wish you a lovely day and I hope that through this crazy time, you are able to celebrate in some way with your family.

I’ve been working on the challenges from Scrapbook & Cards Today Magazine for their World Card Making Day.

This is using the Inspired By Challenge. I was inspired by the free cut file for leaves that was on the blog…did you know they have so many free cut files and downloads!

I just used some papers from my stash and then the Grateful sentiment is from a SCT sampler that I received. I also added a few sequins that were sitting on my desk. I went with a slimline for this one using my Mama Elephant Die.

Thanks for stopping by everyone!

Happy Halloween

Hey all! I’m here to share a couple of halloween cards that I had created for World Cardmaking Day. It was for a challenge on the Scrapbook & Cards Today Magazine…and there is still time to play along to win some great prizes. You can find all the details for the challenge here!

This is the Patterned Paper challenge.

I have this box of Halloween stuff that only seems to come out in October! This is the Sweet & Spooky collection by Bella Blvd, which was actually part of one of my SCT Samplers I think in 2019 (but don’t quote me). I also added a few chipboard pieces from the Simple Stories, Frankie & Friends collection which I thought went well with these papers!

I love how these turned out! You should stop by the SCT blog here and see all the great things that are happening!

Hello!  I want to share with you a card that I created for theFestive Friday Creative Challenge!

This is what they gave us to work with and the challenge is to use any three on your project!

Here’s my card, using this month’s Sheetload of Cards from Call Me Crafty Al.  You can find the link here, to see how you too can get these really fun monthly sketches!

Here is my card!

I managed to incorporate quite a few of the suggestions in this card!  I used some pieces from my October 2018 SCT Sampler…

The DP is from Bella Blvd’s Sweet & Spooky Collection (flowers and polkadots).  The stamped image (green) and sentiment (friendship sentiment) is from Stampin Up as are the inks.  I did emboss the sentiment using some Stampendous embossing powder (embossing).  The die cut is also from Stampin up and the vellum is my last of the Doodlebug!  (I got a lot of projects out of that 12×12 sheet!).  To finish it off, just some bling from my stash (sparkle).

If you want a fun challenge the Festive Friday blog has some great ones and this one is open until the 30th.

Thanks for stopping by and happy creating!

Make You Appear

I’m playing along with the My Favorite Things color challenge right now.

Here is the card that I created

20200603_114608

I’m using the Pure Innocence Fairy Girl stamp set.  I used some Lawn Fawn plaid paper for the background.  I also did a mixed media panel with some distress oxide inks using the colors and then cut it out with the My Favorite Things cross stich die.  A few enamel dots and we are done.

Don’t forget to play along with the color challenge, which can be found here.
