It does mean that we are celebrating a new challenge at Creative Corner Challenges this week.  Our challenge for you~ Inspired by a Song~.  This is one of my favorite challenges…..I chose a song that is also one of my favorite movies as well PRETTY IN PINK

Cardswaps Time to Shine blog hop

Hey everyone!  I’ve got a bit of a longer post for you today but well worth it!

In case you haven’t heard, there is an awesome crop going on over at Card Swaps this week. Challenges and games will be posted May 16-19, 2012 and you have until May 22, 2012 to get your projects posted to the appropriate thread. Don’t worry if you’ve not participated before, as there are many members that will be around to offer support and encouragement. Everything you need to know can be found  in the forum.  At the end of the hop,  you will be taken to the crop and we do hope you’ll join in. As you hop, collect the letter on each participants blog and unscramble them to enter into the drawing for a prize for one lucky hopper! You will be given details at the bottom of my post.

You will be unscrambling a word with a letter received at each blog you visit.. Once you collect ALL the letters, the last hostess in the blog hop will direct you to the thread in the forum where you can find all the details you need to enter the drawing. All hoppers collecting all the letters, unscrambling the word or phrase, entering the game by following the directions in the forum, and leaving feedback on EVERY blog they visit WILL be entered in to a random drawing held on May 23, 2012. ONE lucky hopper will have their name drawn and will win a prize!! So, make sure you visit every blog and find the letters. There are just so many chances to enter and win

The blog hop “theme” goes with the crop title of “Time To Shine”. We were allowed to create any project we wanted as long as it followed the criteria that it has to be able to be used for a day in which someone has their “time to shine”, such as birthdays, graduations, weddings, bridging ceremonies, communions, or whatever. Not only were we asked to create a project but we were also asked to share something about our favorite memory of a day when it was our “time to shine”.

Today I have for you this cute 50th anniversary card that I created for my in-laws anniversary.  I think 50 years together is remarkable and I can only imagine how many time to shine days they have had during those years.

Almost everything used to create this card is from my stash or a swap.  As you know I’m desperately trying to use up all the massive amount of supplies that I already have.  The DP was sent to me in a swap as was the actual image.  I wish I knew who made it because I’d love to make some more cards with it.  The image was colored using copics and then I added some stickles for my ‘shine’.  The 5 0 was cut out using my Don Juan cartridge and then I added some chunky glitter to make it stand out.  The ribbon is American Crafts (I am so into their ribbon right now!) and the pearls are just from my stash.  The sentiment is from my stash as well.

One of my favorite TIME TO SHINE days was my 30th birthday.  I was living in Red Deer away from my family and friends as I had been transferred for work.  I didn’t know anyone and I was really missing my friends.  You can’t imagine how surprised I was when a bunch of my friends came up from Calgary to visit me to help celebrate.  They spent the whole day with me and that evening they planned a surprise birthday party for me at a favorite club that I went to.  For that whole day I was a queen.  Everyone paid attention to me and my friends made it the best birthday party ever!  I have never had another birthday like it, and honestly, I doubt that I ever will again. Although it was my day to shine, I think my friends shared in the spotlight.

Now, you should have arrived here from Laura’s blog.  If not, go back and check out her blog and collect your letter. Then collect my letter and hop on.  I’ve posted the blog hop list at the bottom of this post, just in case you get lost!

NOW THE LETTER YOU HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR FROM ME IS “L”

thanks for stopping by and HAVE FUN ON THE REST OF THE HOP!  You are heading over to Carolyn’s blog next.

The list of hoppers, in case you get lost.

This is one of my favorite images to use.  It’s an older  one and honestly I am not even sure that you can get it anymore in the store, (but who knows it could turn up as a freebie posted by me;) ).
I wanted a simple thank you card.  Now normally I am not a pink person, but I wanted to use some pink scraps I had found and so I decided to give it a whirl.
Almost everything on this card is from my stash.  I did emboss the one panel using my hearts Cuttlebug folder.  The ribbon is SavvynSassy.  I just colored the image with my copics, did a bit of a doodle border and the added a bit of bling in the corners.   The stamped sentiment was sent to me in a swap.   (I apologize for the bad picture..)
I’ve entered into the following challenges:

If Friends Were Flowers

I had thought that I had autoposted this yesterday but looks like I had only saved it as a draft. Yikes

It’s a new challenge at the Crazy Challenge this week, and yay! it’s my turn to host. It’s a monochromatic challenge this week. We’re looking for white and one other color on your projects. You can find all the challenge details listed here on the blog.    We are being sponsored by Di’s Digi Downloads this week.  The lucky winner will win 5 (five) of Di’s great images. Here is my card this week.

The DP was part of a swap that I did.  My c/s is Bazill.  I colored with my copics of course.  The bling is from the $$ store and the sentiment was sent to me as part of a swap for one of the facebook groups I’m in.  I hope you like it and I can’t wait to see your challenge project this week!  The ribbon is savvynsassy (the light pink) and my stash (dark pink) and the button was sent to me in a swap as well.

Happy Monday everyone! Here are two new challenges for you this week.

Just add Flowers

That’s our theme this week for the Crazy Challenge! Flowers are everywhere, DP, embellishments, brads, etc so this should be a really easy challenge. Make sure you check out all the details as well as the Design Team inspiration pieces for you this week here.

And here’s my card for this week’s challenge.

I’ve had this image FOREVER so I finally decided to use it. I just colored with my copics, added some DP from my stash and a border I cut out using one of my fun punches. The big flower was from Walmart in the wedding section and I just spritzed it with a little glimmer mist. The smaller ones just from my stash. A few brads and a bit of bling and we are done! Vintage Valentine

Hi everyone!  It’s a new Tag challenge over at Challenge Masters, and this month it’s all about the love, romance and Valentine’s Day.  I had to make some tags for the Kinderstampo Tag Swap and so I thought that I would incorporate both challenges into this…

I am really loving how these turned out.  I love the vintage look but am not the best at re-creating it.  However, once I got started, I couldn’t stop and ended up making 12 of them…here are just a couple of samples.

For these, I just cut the heart shape out using my Cricut.  I then heat embossed it with an  old french script writing background stamp that I had..after that it was glimmer mist time.  I printed off some vintage sheet music from the internet, which I then distressed and ink with Tim Holtz inks for that vintage feel.  The cliparts are from the internet as well.  Just some free site I found by googling.  The rest are just bits and bobs that I had lying around in my stash, pearls, bling,  little fabric flowers, flowers that I bought from the wedding section at Walmart and then just inked and glimmer misted to give a vintage feel to.  I really love how they turned out!  If you decide to make some, please enter my challenge at Challenge Masters so that I can see them!  Click here to sign up to the free forum…

Joy

So in Challenge Master’s this month, we Diva’s are swapping.  I gave up my stash challenge and I got the blademasters challenge in exchange.  The goal is to create a project using the various bladed tools we have, punches, trimmers, scissors, cricut etc…My challenge was to create a project using a tag and a single word….so this is what I came up with

I used some DP that came to me in a swap (my swap pal sent me the most awesome stuff) and then I cut out the snowflake tag using my Cricut and the Very Merry Tags cartridge from last year.  I added some fine glitter to it. The JOY sentiment is cut from my Winter Woodland cartridge I think.  The embossed piece is a Christmas words from last year and then I sanded it a bit to give it a bit of texture.  The stitching is an awesome tape runner from Kiki-Art.  This is great for doing some faux stitching..(you can check out the different kinds Kiki has here) and I added a bit of string.  I did a bit of a border in the background as well.

For the tag, I had some left overs so I just cut it using my trimmer and rounded the corners with a punch.  The star ribbon is from my stash and I used my Cuttlebug to cut out the word JOY.  Then I just added a bit of ribbon and cord.  I hope you like them and make sure you visit the Challenge Master’s forum to check out the other great week 2 challenges!

I’ve entered this project into the following challenges:

New Cards

I had to make some cards for a swap in my Just Cards and my Crazy Card Makers groups on Yahoo.

The theme for the first one was fantasy, so some kind of fantasy creature..I chose a dragon digital that I had found and colored it with my copics.  I also used some of my older K & Company paper that I have had forever (I’m trying to use up old stock)

dragon

Next theme was just a spring card, remember, I’m still learning how to use my Copics.  I didn’t at the time have the right color for faces but I tried the best I could.

spring

and finally the theme was  an ‘X’ card..so I chose ‘xoxoxo’
